TRC + SPRING TRAVEL

Headed on a family vacation?

Before you start packing, check out our list of gotta-have-’em items—they’ll ensure that your travels are stress-free and completely comfortable :

A GREAT CARRY-ON

The best travel bags are built to last, so look for sturdy materials and excellent workmanship. But don’t forget aesthetics—your carry-on should look as good as the rest of your outfit.

A GOOD PAIR OF HEADPHONES

The plane ride is long, and let’s face it: Your mother-in-law is long-winded. Invest in premium headphones—the ones airlines provide are flimsy and won’t have the best sound quality—and you’ll be able to tune out any sort of unwanted noise.

A PAIR OF SOFT SOCKS

Donning a cozy pair of cashmere or merino wool socks is a great way to feel more at home in any location. And if you’re flying, they sure beat the free socks handed out on overnight flights.

A PAIR OF SOFT PANTS

The athleisure trend is perfect for travelers—wear a pair of comfy pants for your flight, and you’ll almost feel like you’re traveling in your pajamas. Just be sure to choose a modern, slim cut to avoid looking sloppy.

A WHITE T-SHIRT

You’ll never regret packing a classic white tee (and no, we’re not talking Hanes)—it works well on its own if you’re lucky enough to be vacationing someplace warm, but it’s also a key layering piece for other locations.

A CARDIGAN

Planes can get cold, and sometimes other people’s homes are kept at temperatures more fitting to a polar bear than a person. Your solution? A cardigan that can help you look stylish while you ward off the chill.

A SPORTS COAT YOU CAN DRESS UP - OR DOWN

Packing for a trip is a bit like venturing into the great unknown—you don’t really have a good idea of what you’re getting into. Will people dress up for dinner, or will it be more casual? Are the restaurants at the resort fancy or come as you are? Be prepared for any scenario by bringing a sportcoat that you can wear with that white tee and jeans for a casual look—or dress up in a flash courtesy of a button-down, necktie and pocket square.

A GREAT PAIR OF SHOES

Your favorite shoes in a neutral color like black or brown will go with almost everything you’ve packed and add polish to your look.
